8 Home Remedies to Cure Sinusitis

Running nose and aching body throughout the year can be extremely irritating for anyone and also distracts you from the work at the same time. Some other symptoms of sinus infections are nausea, excess mucus and cough. There might be a number of causes for sinusitis, like:

  • Excess  consumption of dairy products, such as milk, cheese and other products

  • Food allergies

  • Dental infections

  • Hay fever and weak immune system

Here, I am suggesting you some really helpful home remedies to overcome the problem of sinusitis and live a cheerful life.

1. Honey

Be it your skin or health, honey has worked everywhere and shown impeccable results. Make tea of lemon and honey in hot water. Honey will work as an antibiotic, and the lemon has vitamin C, which will attack the cold virus. Drink 3 cups of this tea daily to fight the infection quickly.

2. Soups

One should drink bowls of soups, preferably clear soups, like chicken clear soup or vegetable clear soup. The warmth of the soup will liquefy the mucus and throw it out from the body. Besides, it will also relieve you from the problem of a scratchy throat.

3. Natural Herbs

There are certain herbs, like onion and garlic that have been proven bliss to cure the infection of sinusitis. Garlic and onion have allicin, which is an active component that fights bacteria and boost your immune system, thereby, helping you to combat the problem. You can eat raw garlic, but if you do not like the smell or taste, you can take it in the form of capsules or tablets, available in the market.

Soak ginger in hot water for 10 minutes and consume that water as tea. It will definitely work wonders in curing the problem of sinusitis.

4. Diet

When you suffer from sinus infection, have a check on your diet. Try to have light cooked vegetables, lentils, whole wheat food, and eggs. Drink plenty of water (remember, the water should not be too cold). This will help you in curing the problem effectively and quickly.

5. Steam Inhalation

Take herbs that have anti-microbial and anti-bacterial properties, like ginger, peppermint, eucalyptus, oregano, and thyme. Boil these herbs in water and perform the process of steam inhalation. The main aim behind steam inhalation is to clear your blocking nose. Perform this for at least 3 times in a day and observe the results.

6. Apple Cider Vinegar

At the early stages, when you start encountering the problem of sinusitis, you should consume tea having apple cider vinegar. Mix honey and apple cider vinegar into hot water and consume this 4-5 times a day. Apple cider vinegar helps to thin the mucus that eventually helps in decongesting your chest.

7. Hot Shower

You should take a hot shower for quite some time (say for around 30 minutes) letting the hot water run over your nose and throat. This will thin your mucus while opening up your congested chest and help you combat the infection.

8. Vitamin C

Vitamin C is one of the best agents in fighting the problem of sinusitis. Consume three capsules of Vitamin C when you wake up in the morning and 3 capsules before going to bed. Besides, you can also have multi-vitamin capsules to build up your immune system naturally.
