How this works

Water in a glass is “open” for dust particles and air-borne bacteria. So, when water is exposed to air, it absorbs carbon dioxide (small amount is converted into carbonic acid).

The experts warn that a water exposed to air is more prone to change its own chemical structure. The carbon acid will convert into carbonate (or bicarbonate) when it releases one or two protons. This will change the water pH and its taste.
