The leading cause of a toothache is cavities. Nevertheless, there are other factors which can cause this pain. Some of those are:

  • Inflamed gums
  • Chewing aggressively and teeth grinding
  • A damaged filling
  • Tooth crack
  • Abscessed tooth

In turn, these conditions are followed by various symptoms. Some of those are a severe tough pain, sharp sudden toothache or occasional discomfort. Sometimes, the pain will come when there is pressure on the tooth. It can also be activated by swelling, or a fever or a migraine. Also, if your tooth aches for more than a couple of days, you need to seek for immediate attention. This will be followed by an earache, fever or oral cavity pain which will disable your chewing and swallowing, thus seeking for immediate treatment.
